GeogGebra can be implemented as an in class activity or homework exploration. It is not limited to Geometry and it allows students to develop a relational understanding because they are able to draw conclusions based on their own findings. Creating activity sheets and interactive sketches increases students’ opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of what is occurring mathematically.
I believe it is critical for students to have the opportunity to create sketches in software like GeoGebra, so they can better visualize theorems and geometric properties. GeoGebra allows student to see multiple positions of the chords and determine that the intersecting chords create similar triangles and their coordinating sides are proportional. This ability to see multiple positions helps students’ exploration extend far beyond their limitations of using pencil and paper.
